An Erotic Dream at University Hospital
Philip is in bed with Melanie, moaning how he’s loving it. She kisses him. It turns out Philip was dreaming, and he wakes up at the hospital. Daniel asks Philip if something’s wrong. Philip claims he dozed off and had a nightmare, pointing out how Kate is ill and he’s not in the best state of mind right now.
Philip enters Kate's room and apologizes for accidentally letting the door slam when she awakens.
Kate asks if he should be at work, but Philip says it’s late and the office is closed. An exhausted Kate believes she’s lost track of time. Philip relays how Daniel mentioned that she was holding up with “characteristic fortitude,” which makes Kate smile. Kate shares how she was remembering when Philip was in first or second grade and how obsessed he was with dinosaurs. She notes how he’s all grown up and now a big mogul. Philip expresses how he doesn’t care about any of that and would give it all up just to be back in the first grade. Kate gets teary-eyed as Philip recalls how invincible she was. She admits she may not have much more time and professes to love him. She implores him to accept the possibility that she might not make it, but Philip refuses. “You’re not leaving us,” he affirms.
Philip later kisses his sleeping mother on the head, then walks out. Daniel sits by her bedside, which awakens her. Kate asks how the treatment is going. Daniel notes that she seems to be responding well to the treatment, but they need to monitor her carefully since they’ve given her a very high dose of chemo.
“So you’re saying that the cure may kill me?” she asks. Philip listens outside the door as she expresses how she’ll always know that he did everything he could to save her, no matter what happens.
Daniel comes out of Kate’s room and hands Philip’s phone to him after he left it behind. Philip reveals that he overheard Daniel and his mother talking. He admits that Daniel seems to be a big part in giving his mother hope. He assures Daniel that he won’t get involved with whatever happens between him and Kate. “Just save her,” he implores before leaving.
Daniel is later by an unconscious Kate’s bedside, urging her to fight her illness. “Come back to us. Come back to me,” he whispers.
Mickey and Maggie’s House
Nick brings Melanie to her new home, where she thanks him. She wonders if his aunt and uncle will have a problem with it. Nick informs her that they’re at a green restaurant convention and will be gone for a few days. “So we’re all alone?” she assumes. “You don’t have a problem with that, do you?” asks Nick. Melanie laments how Nick is her only friend in Salem, now that Max has turned his back on her. Nick assumes that she doesn’t want to be more than friends. She demurs how she doesn’t want to play a guy ever again, especially someone as sweet as Nick. She states how they should just be friends, believing that it would be a mistake to be more than that. Nick agrees to be her “BFF,” but it’s obvious he wants more than her friendship as he hides his disappointment.
Chelsea slowly opens the door and asks what Melanie’s doing there. “I live here,” replies Melanie. Chelsea questions if it’s some kind of joke, but Nick confirms that he invited her to stay. Chelsea wonders why he would do that. “Why would you walk in here without knocking?” retorts Nick. A smug Melanie states that it’s common courtesy to alert someone of your presence. An annoyed Nick questions why she came by. Chelsea shares how she was wanting to talk to him about Kate earlier, but proceeds to go since she’s obviously interrupting. Nick stops her and notes that she has the mail. “Oh my God!” exclaims Nick upon opening a letter. Chelsea continues to stand by the door. An elated Nick reveals that his alternative fuel project has gotten the attention of a major funding group, which means that it may be possible that they’ll be looking at some very serious money very soon. Melanie enthuses how they need to celebrate with champagne, streamers, and caviar. Nick mentions how strange it is, realizing that none of it would’ve happened without Trent. Melanie asks third wheel Chelsea for some time alone with Nick. Chelsea goes into the other room, but eavesdrops as Melanie cozies up to Nick, referring to him as amazing and brilliant. Mel embraces him.
As Chelsea continues to eavesdrop, Melanie expresses how happy she is for him, suggesting that it should all go to him, even though she’s entitled to the some of the profits. Nick states that they’re in it together. Melanie then has a change of heart about their friendship agreement, suggesting that maybe someday they can be more. Chelsea barges back in as they are about to kiss and requests some time alone with Nick. Melanie reluctantly obliges and leaves the room.
Chelsea questions what Nick’s doing, mentioning the exchange he just had with Melanie. Nick is outraged that Chelsea was spying on them. Chelsea calls him a fool, insisting that Melanie only cares about the money he could make her. “How dare you judge her, or me! Who the hell do you think you are, Chelsea?” yells an angry Nick. “Have you lost your mind?” questions Chelsea. “Get out!” orders Nick. Melanie re-enters as Chelsea leaves. Melanie notes that Chelsea’s not too happy and Nick admits that he doesn’t really care. She soon heads to bed and thanks him for everything. He then sees the note from her purse which says, “I saw you at the cemetery. I know what happened,” then recalls writing the note himself.
Chelsea later finds Philip and asks him to help save Nick from Melanie.
Police Station
Nicole is in disbelief that E.J. left her. Bo and Hope barge back in the office with Nicole’s new wardrobe, an orange jumpsuit. Nicole is soon wearing her jumpsuit, ranting how it’s a travesty of justice and how it’s ten sizes too big. “Yeah, well you’ll grow into it,” remarks Hope. Nicole tells Bo that just because he has some flimsy evidence, it doesn’t mean she killed her husband. E.J. comes back and hands Bo a court order in regards to Nicole’s bail hearing. He requests a moment alone with his client.
