- 1). Clean the walls well with TSP. This will remove any built-up grease and dirt.
- 2). Repair any tears in the vinyl with glue. Allow to dry.
- 3). Fill any nail holes or dents with the spackling compound. Wipe off any excess around the holes.
- 4). Caulk any seams or cracks.
- 5). Prime the walls with an oil-based primer. Allow the walls to dry, then prime a second time.
- 6). With a paintbrush, cut in the paint at the corners of the walls, along the top and bottom of the walls, and around window and door frames.
- 7). Begin rolling the paint onto the walls with your paint roller. Roll a straight line across the edge line to blend, then use a zigzag pattern to evenly distribute the paint. Allow a minimum of four hours for the first coat of paint to dry, then apply a second coat of paint.
