- 1). Boil the broccoli in water until tender. Do not overcook. The broccoli should have a nice green color.
- 2). Sauté the onions in butter until tender.
- 3). Add the flour and milk.
- 4). Add the broccoli and water to the milk mixture.
- 5). Add the chicken broth or bouillon, salt and pepper. Add more water if the consistency is too thick.
- 6). Cook and stir just until hot. You don't want it to boil because the broccoli will continue to cook and you want it to be tender, not mushy.
