Rhodes was once famous for its Colossus, a giant statue that greeted mariners. It's long gone, but there is enough here to attract curious visitors.
The narrow streets you'll encounter in Rhodes are delightful places to get lost for a while. Life here moves at a slow pace and much of the business caters to tourists. But it's easy to see that Rhodes has been welcoming visitors for centuries. The reconstructed castle has all the appearances of an ancient structure, but it dates back only to the 1930s. It's well worth seeing.
