- 1). Monitor how many servings of vegetables you are eating per day. You will want to do this per week and will want to see the average of how many vegetables you are eating.
- 2). Increase your intake. After the first week, increase all of your servings of vegetables by at least one. Monitor this as you increase this, in order to make sure that you are getting some vegetables.
- 3). Keep increasing. If you are not at three to five servings a day, keep increasing the vegetable intake by one a day. This will help you to get the extra nutrients you need and to decrease your chances of getting heart disease.
- 4). Feel free to snack. Once you start adding in the vegetables, you may find it difficult to eat all of them at meals. You may want to add in some snacks that include vegetables, allowing you to get the nutrients without the extra added calories and weight risk factors.
