Probably two of the most dreaded words.
Especially today given the current economic climate, sky-rocketing unemployment rates, and corporate America going by the way side.
You just got fired.
That good old American dream isn't so "dreamy" anymore, is it? It's everywhere.
In the papers.
On the news.
Here's the headline: "VP OF LARGE MADISON AVENUE ADVERTISING FIRM GETS PINK SLIP ALONG WITH THE ENTIRE COMPANY!" No warning.
No severance pay.
Nada! So what is this telling you? It's a scream from a loud speaker to step up to the plate and create your own stimulus package! It's a call to action to not allow your livelihood and lifestyle to be determined by anyone except YOU.
It's motivating.
It's even scary.
But, are you even up for it? Because..
...
I wouldn't hire you! Not a chance.
Would you hire yourself? Maybe a more important question.
Getting fired, laid off, down-sized...
whatever you want to call it.
It's happening everywhere around us.
It's time to become self-employable! Well, coming from years of being told what to do, when to do it, and how much your time and skills were worth, this can be a daunting question.
Do you have what it takes to employ YOU? If you answered "no," well there's no point in you even reading the rest of this.
However, if you answered "yes," here are some good pointers to set YOU up for success in your brand spanking new entrepreneurial venture..
..
Set Defined Goals And Have A Clear PLAN...
Sounds pretty simple, doesn't it? Well, easier said than done! Remember this: "Failures don't plan to fail; they fail to plan.
" Harvey Mackay hit the nail on the head with this.
It is important to wake up with purpose, clarity, and a well-defined plan of action.
And planning needs to start from the very beginning.
It seems to be most helpful to sit down at night and write a list of what you have to accomplish the next day, with the most important items as top priorities.
You will begin to see a pattern of efficiency and accomplishment as you stick to your pre-defined daily plan.
Time-Management Is Vital...
Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day.
How do you choose to utilize that time? Remember! You just got FIRED from a JOB where you had deadlines to meet, right? Now it is more important than ever that you structure each day to pull the most amount of productivity possible.
You are the only one who you need to be accountable to! Focus your efforts toward income-producing activity.
There is a time to do "house-keeping" on social media and respond to e-mails.
Insert those tasks into your day at a certain time and stick to it.
Your primary focus should be your tasks from which you can monetize from...
Consistent Daily Action is the SECRET SAUCE...
Yeah, you're going to get bored.
The daily tasks associated with being your OWN boss can seem mundane.
But it is those consistent daily actions steps that you do without fail that will separate you from the rest.
If you don't have the determination and willingness to FOCUS - and I mean LASER FOCUS - on those items that are vital to creating a long-term, sustainable entrepreneurial venture, well you might as well FIRE YOURSELF.
Scroll back up to where I said to stop reading, and check the classifieds! I hear McDonald's is hiring..
..
Take advantage of the fact that you got FIRED.
Realize that you need to create your own abundance.
It's time to roll up your sleeves, step back to take in a good gut check, and then...
I'd consider hiring you.
