If you are trying to increase your chances of getting found online there really is only one rule.
The rule is: Content it King! Let me repeat this loudly: CONTENT IS KING! One of the main reasons that Content is King is that search engines are looking to return the most relevant information available for people using their service.
The more relevant the content then the more that people will read what you have written and hence the search engines will have your web page ranked higher in it's listings.
Relevant content for your website or blog can include numerous things such as: - Information about your industry, product, service, etc.
- Helpful hints or "How to" articles - News worthy information - Interesting stories - Events that you might be putting on - Product or service information - Case Studies - Video tutorials The main thing to focus on is the reader when you are looking at writing either a page for your website or a post on a blog.
If you don't put yourself in the readers' shoes you will not attract people to the information that you are trying to convey.
Here is how to figure out content for your webpage or blog post: - Think about what the audience wants to know - Think about how they would search for the information that they want - Think about the phrases that they would use to find out this information - Is the information universal or is it for a specific area (local or regional) Once you have figured out the content, use an online keyword tool like the Google AdWords Keywords tool to identify potential keywords and then write an article to encompass some of the top words.
You will have to sign up for Google AdWords to use the Keyword tool.
One of the main points about writing a web page or a post is that you should have some relevant keywords in the post, but don't stuff (or use a keyword excessively) your post with keywords.
You will only end up writing something that someone can't read or understand.
Just write something that you like, and then review it and see if you can add keywords in certain places.
If you are a shoe repairer who only has one location, then write about shoe repair and include the city or area you are in, this way you will get found based on a region and a phrase, such as "shoe repair".
So remember, incorporate content that is relevant to your website and you should be able to drive qualified traffic your way.
