Aboriginal Peoples Pow Wow

Pow Wows hosted and attended by the North American Aboriginal peoples have gathered for decades to renew friendships and celebrate with song, games, dance and storytelling. They have evolved into major social events that can be found to be quite breath taking and fun.

The type of Pow Wow can be quite exciting. Competition Pow Wows focus on the best dancers and awarded prize monies. Traditional Pow Wows focus on gathering of the traditional drums and peoples with no monetary gains. All regalia's are hand crafted and spiritually unique to each individual. Also, regalia's are truly spectacular and beautiful in all their colours and will leave quite the impression on all in attendance.

A Pow Wow gathers and unites both the dance and the dancer in a single symbol of life and is one of the most favorite activities of not just dancers but the singers, drummers, artists and hosting community. It brings together people of different tribal backgrounds, new friendships, economic revival, opens to the public and gains fame.

Aboriginal people from all corners of North America can be found attending these events living out of their tents, their vehicles or offered temporary lodging by the host community. They will move from one Pow Wow onto another following their own Pow Wow trail. They can be quite addictive.

A host community can spend a whole year preparing for their Pow Wow once they start their own and will be expected to grow into a annual event. They will start with a committee of volunteers who set to work with developing a work plan and assigning tasks and teams. Great thought goes into each task from setting the date, to selections of food, cooks, fundraising, lodging, Pow Wow grounds, camp grounds, safety, prizes, honorariums, security, activities, dance schedules for tots, youths, women, men and elders, maintain spirituality practices and all within a limited budget.

Pow Wow events hosted by each community strive to make them unique and special which in turn gives them fame and regular attendance numbers. These events will also bring about a economic boost to their surrounding district and businesses.

A Pow Wow will give a person the opportunity to share in a part of the Aboriginal world and a glimpse into a old, favorite and much anticipated event that is about celebrating and honoring Life.
