The most important thing to a teen is appearance.
Teens value how they look and how others look at them.
Body image is how someone feels about his or her own physical appearance.
Every teen goes through an ugly duckling phase.
This is why it is important for teens to accept who they are becoming.
It does not matter what is done to your outer appearance it is your inner appearance that really count.
Sadly, we all are influenced by society.
A recent survey shows that 59% of girls aged 10-18 were dissatisfied with their body shape.
Forty-seven percent want to lose weight because of magazine pictures.
Then you have 73% of girls aged 8-12 that want to dress and talk like teens.
There are ways you can improve your appearance on the outside, but how do you feel deep inside? Do you ignore your feelings to accommodate others? If this is the case then you are defeating the purpose.
You are unique and there is only one of you.
The images of models show that it is acceptable being slim and flawless.
Teens do not realize that these models are images of how society perceives beauty.
Any time someone compares himself or herself to someone else indicates that he or she does not accept his or her own uniqueness.
Self-esteem is how someone values themselves, feels about themselves, and respects themselves.
A person who has high self-esteem usually feels good about his or herself.
They do not need approval from others on how they look, talk or think.
They enjoy life.
People who tease and make fun of others are usually the ones who feel the least confident about themselves.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
It is an uncomfortable situation to be talked about and teased but this does not mean that they are right about you.
Ignorance is a behavior barrier that many people never overcome.
