It is vital that you start training your pet immediately after picking him/her up so they can come to know what is expected of them in the home.
If you are like most Americans you have to leave for work Monday through Friday and sometimes Saturday so it is best to purchase a crate to keep your pet in while you are away.
This helps to keep the pet out of things while you are gone and you will find none of your shoes or clothes chewed up when you return home after a sometimes challenging day at the office.
You want to make sure that the crate is very large as the pet will grow and you want them to be comfortable in the crate and have lots of space.
Remember that most dogs will not like to have messes that close to them while they are in the crate and will generally keep it clean of messes so you can use this to your advantage by getting your pet out early in the morning outside so he/she can go to the bathroom be patience as this is a new environment for your pet and they may not go right away.
But in the end nature takes over and they will go.
Always make sure to heap praise and love on your pet when they go to show approval.
You pet is mainly a bundle of emotions that really loves you and will do almost anything to get that outward showing of love and praise from you.
Also try giving your pet a treat when they go to the bathroom outside to reinforce the rewards for that particular behavior to show them that this is the action that is supposed to happen when they come outside.
Use treats that they really like, not the one that makes them lose their minds in anticipation of receiving it as it will be difficult for them to equate that with the treat seeing that to them the treat is all consuming and nothing else in life at that moment matters except getting that treat.
