How to Fix a Flat With WD-40

    • 1). Jack up the vehicle, using the indicated jack points on the chassis of the vehicle.

    • 2). Spray a few short bursts of WD-40 into the gap between the rim and the tire. Make sure the spray gets around the edge of the rim. Stop when you see a small cloud of vapor in the tire/rim area.

    • 3). Step back about two feet from the tire. Ignite your lighter. Aim the can of WD-40 at the tire and rim a few inches from the ignited lighter, spraying a short burst into the flame. The propellant will ignite, also igniting the propellant around the tire. The rapid expansion of air from the heat of the propellant's ignition causes the tire to reseat onto the rim.

    • 4). Thread the black strand included with the tire repair kit through the punch needle's hole.

    • 5). Push the strand and needle into the hole in the tire. Pull the needle back out of the tire.

    • 6). Inflate to the proper PSI, as indicated on the tire, with the 12-volt air compressor. Plug the cigarette lighter adapter into the 12-volt supply jack in the vehicle, stopping when the gauge reads the proper pressure.

    • 7). Head to a tire dealer to repair or replace the tire.
