This true story happened to a few counselors at my summer camp a few years ago. The story goes as follows:
Two counselors from my summer camp were driving down a highway during the night. It was the middle of winter, and I believe they were driving through South Carolina to go to one of the counselor's mountain house to spend their winter break there. Let's call this counselor Jeff, and the other John, for sake of privacy.
This is a Christian camp, so both Jeff and John strongly believe in Christ and the existence of Satan and his army of demons. So as they were driving down the highway they saw a sketchy looking guy dressed in all black clothing (black hoodie, black pants, black shoes, etc.) on the side of the road. There were no other cars on the road at the time, so they decided to slow down because they thought the man might be a hitchhiker.
They had been watching the man for about 30 seconds, as they were going very slow and the man was far away. John said, "Dude, I think that guy is like a demon or something." Immediately after he said this, the man turned around. All they could see was his huge, bright, white smile. That was literally the only thing they could see on his face.
As he turned around, the thing cupped his hand over his ear, as if he heard them. The thing also sort of bent its knees and spread its legs apart slightly, like it was bracing. (This does not have importance to the story, it just helps envision what it looked like.)
They both just looked at each other and almost simultaneously said, "Let's get out of here." They took a u-turn right where they were and sped off in the other direction.
Even though I was not there to witness this, I do believe this story. It was told to me from a primary source (one of the two counselors that experienced it) and both the witnesses were very Christian and reliable sources, plus there is no gain from them making up a story like that. There is no reason for me not to believe this story.
A small warning: as this story was told by word of mouth, it is not 100% fact. A few small details were changed, but the general idea and story has remained the same.
