When starting your chosen method and after deciding your exact plan of action to ensure you're going to successfully kick the habit and stay off the cigarettes for good, it's absolutely vital that you keep your ultimate goal permanently in your mind.
The dedication to keep following your plan, the determination to achieve each step of your plan and then your overall willpower to stick with it will most definitely play a major role in deciding whether you reach that ultimate goal or not.
I'm sure that as a smoker or more importantly a smoker that's tried before and is still looking for a way to easily and effectively quit for good, you're bound to have heard it plenty of times - "you only need some willpower!".
Well this particular piece of advice has been given to smokers needing to quit for countless decades now and while it has worked and certainly continues to work for some people, it unfortunately just doesn't work for everybody.
As a matter of fact it could make things even worse for the poor guy or gal who's desperate to quit - you're constantly faced with the temptation of having 'just one or two cigarettes now and then' and your willpower and determination really has to work.
It's basically much easier said than done.
You'll know how difficult it can be if you're one of those that has tried to quit before only to fail because smashing your way through and then overcoming the cravings wasn't quite the easy task you thought it would be.
At this point most people trying to quit would now feel totally disheartened and quit even trying to quit because they believe that they're somehow weak and just don't have the determination and willpower to be able to reach their much needed eventual goal.
It's that classic feeling of feeling "not good enough" to achieve what you want that hampers the effort needed for anything we want in life - let alone quitting smoking! So it goes without saying then that while you can most definitely quit smoking with sheer determination and willpower alone, if you are of the right constitution, it's also very possible that you might just worsen your situation with feelings of failure and weakness.
I suppose then the question should be - why rely on your willpower alone? There are so many helpful aids and resources on the market these days ranging from nicotine and cigarette substitutes through to NLP and hypnosis, so why risk the misery of failure if you can get the help that suits you and greatly increase your chance for successfully quitting a life-destroying addiction? In summary; it doesn't suit everybody but quitting smoking with willpower alone is a powerful method that has been proven to work and even though you're bound to find it a little tough at first, being able to kick the habit is much easier than you think - YOU ONLY HAVE TO WANT TO! Quitting smoking naturally, speedily, and permanently isn't and has never been about overly complicated systems and/or poisonous pills and patches - it's all about simplicity, a little bit of will-power and some genuine tried and tested tobacco-quitting knowledge.
