- One of the safest places to store your Micro SD card is inside of your camera, phone, or audio device. Even if you are not using the card, you should leave the SD card inside for its protection. But if you plan to simply store the card in your device and not use it, make sure that you transfer or delete all of your information from the card first. This way, if you lose or damage the device accidentally, you won't lose your data along with the card.
- If you find it impractical to keep your Micro SD card in your camera or phone, or you have more than one card to store, keep it inside of your card reader. This is the USB compatible device that allows you to transfer your files from the card to your computer. Simply slide the Micro SD card into the designated slot and be sure to snap on the caps--two plastic caps come with the card reader--to protect the card inside.
- Regardless of whether you store your Micro SD card inside of your cell phone or a card reader, you should always keep the card out of the heat and away from magnetic sources. Heat can melt the plastic casing of the card and damage the disk. Magnetic waves can also erase information from the disk. Store the card in a cool, dry, hazard-free and dust-free place, such as a desk drawer. Keep the card away from televisions, audio speakers, and any component that may have a magnetic force.
