A Simple Relaxation Meditation

A lot of folks think meditation is just for those in the New Age and who are afraid of what the results of meditation might be.
Yet, still others believe it's a waste of time.
However, for a few out there, meditation will help with relaxation as well as developing psychic abilities.
Depending on what you want to accomplish, there are a million different meditations out there for you.
You will see results with some of these meditations right away while it will take a few weeks to see results with some of the others.
Meditation is basically a way to discipline the mind to also help the body in the task you want to tackle.
By training our mind, our body will follow suit and we will soon be able to do some things without nearly as much effort as it takes now.
The most common reason meditation is used is for relaxation.
A lot of people feel uncomfortable doing the chants and mantras and I personally find them distracting from the cause so I leave them out.
There are a ton of meditation tracks out there on the internet to help you with your meditation.
Simply close your mind and have no thoughts.
Just be.
That is what meditation is all about.
I do realize it's much easier said than done.
Some people like to use these meditation tracks and others prefer to have quiet.
It's up to you whichever you prefer and think will help you out the most.
You should also designate a special part of the house that you meditate in regularly.
A place where you feel comfortable and safe; a place with no distractions.
The first thing you want to do is obviously get comfortable.
If you want to have a meditation track on, go ahead and turn it on.
Close your eyes and let yourself relax as much as possible.
Your meditation sessions should last around 20-30 minutes.
However, sometimes it can take longer and that's ok.
It's also OK if you fall asleep.
Relaxation meditation is meant to help you relax and if you fall asleep, you're definitely relaxed.
Sleeping is simply giving your body what it needs.
It doesn't mean you did your meditation wrong.
Next, I want you to focus on your breathing.
In and out.
Breath in to the count of 6, hold for 4, and release for 6.
Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Try to keep this process up throughout your meditation; this is called pranic breathing.
After you fifth set of breaths, imagine yourself in a Victorian style, white room with spiral stairs.
Looking up from the bottom, you see a balcony at the top so you begin to make your way up the stairs.
These stairs have different colors as you continue to walk through them.
You can feel the colors of the lights of the stairs fill you completely with warmth and security, You know you are safe here and are encouraged to be at peace.
You are the only one in this safe area, free to do as you please.
As you walk up the first few steps you notice they are of the color red.
The red color of the stairs and red light surrounding the stairs envelopes you and you feel its warmth go through you.
The next set of steps is orange.
You leave the red and continue through the orange feeling the orange surround and comfort you.
After that, you find steps and light that is yellow.
You stand there feeling the yellow's warmth go through you.
Next, you find steps and light that is blue.
You feel the calmness of the blue surround you as you continue on and let the next set of purple steps envelope you.
Finally, at the top of the steps they are white.
Let this white light surround, envelope and embrace you.
This light is the light of purity and goodness.
This is the light of the Universe.
Feel its warmth and comfort all around you as you soak in the light all throughout your body from your head to your toes.
After letting in the white light of love, step out onto the balcony.
You will see a beach with white sand and a trail of stones that lead to a stone bridge over the water.
Follow this trail, at your own pace, and go stand in the middle of the bridge.
You will notice on your way out of the balcony that there are white, thornless roses there.
Pick one and take it with you to the stone bridge.
Once standing on the bridge, I want you to begin taking petals off of the white rose, one by one.
Assign to each petal one of your problems or troubles.
As you pull them from the stem and assign a trouble to them, simply toss them into the ocean below so they will be carried away.
The rose can be as small or large as you want.
When you've finished taking the petals off of the rose, toss the stem into the ocean as well, releasing what is holding your troubles in your life.
Continue to stand on the bridge looking out at the vast water, taking in the beautiful view from your bridge.
Smell the salt water and feel the warm breeze surround you as you stand in admiration.
Once you feel comfortable enough to leave the area, you can head back to your house on the beach.
Walk back across the bridge, back down the stone path in the white sand that leads back into the house.
Stand in the doorway and take in the sights of your house, your beach and your bridge as well as your white, thornless roses.
Know that you can come back here anytime you choose.
Before waking back up and going back out into the real world, move your feet.
After that, move your legs, tense your torso and relax, move your fingers, wrists, elbows and arms.
Move your head to the left, then the right, then up, then down and back to normal position again.
Focus on your panic breathing.
After two or three sets of breath counts, you will begin to awake.
Releasing your breath, count down from six to one.
As you complete you count, slowly open your eyes.
Your meditation is complete.
