How Do I Do a 301 Redirect in a WordPress Blog?

    • 1). Download the "Simple 301 Redirects" plugin from the Wordpress codex.

    • 2). Connect to the blog via FTP client. All FTP clients are different, but most just require the domain name, username and password.

    • 3). Navigate to the "/wp-content/plugins/" directory of the account by double-clicking through the file hierarchy on the FTP client.

    • 4). Upload the plugin to the directory by dragging it into the folder on the FTP client.

    • 5). Go to the "Plugins" menu in the WordPress account page. You'll have to log in to do this. Generally the WordPress login page is located at "www.YourSite.com/wp-admin."

    • 6). Go to "Settings." Click "301 redirects."

    • 7). Add the redirects. In the "Requests" box, put the address that the request is coming from. For example, this could be "/about.htm." In the "Redirects" box, put the address that the request should be redirected to. For example, this could be "http://www.domain.com/about/."
