- 1). Navigate to an HTTP proxy listing website (see "Resources"). The list shows the IP address and port number to use in order to access the proxy. Note down the details of your chosen proxy.
- 2). Navigate to the "Tools" menu in the menu bar of your browser (in Google Chrome this is shown as a wrench symbol). From Tools, open "Options" > "Internet Options" > "Settings." A window opens that has a series of tabs at the top or a tree structure menu to the left.
- 3). Select "Internet" or "Connections." With some browsers, the "Proxies" option is immediately available. If not, look for the "LAN Settings" button on the "Connections" page. Press this to open another window.
- 4). Enter the HTTP proxy server address and port number in the proxy fields in this window. Some browsers (Internet Explorer, for example) just have fields for one proxy. Other browsers (Mozilla Firefox) have several different proxy types. Enter just the HTTP proxy. The IP address and port number for the proxy should be filled in with the IP address and port number you noted in Step 1. This setting means that a proxy server website records your visit from the location of the HTTP proxy.
- 1). Navigate to a CGI Proxy listing website (see "Resources"). Look for a free proxy site--this does not require a login.
- 2). Look through the lines in the list. The name of the proxy is a link to the site. Click on this link.
- 3). Find the address field. Type in the address of the site you want to visit.
