Choosing The Right Maternity Photographer

This is an exciting time in your life - and even if you don't always feel it, you're radiant and beautiful.
Capturing your beauty and saving it is a great idea, and working with the right photographer, together you can create amazing images that you'll treasure and enjoy showing your friends and family for years to come.
So how do you tell the great ones from the not-so-great ones? There are a few things to look for that can be helpful: First, ask to see his or her portfolio.
Looking over their work can give you a good feel for their creative vision and style.
Are the poses exciting and original or just kind of bland and similar-looking? Do they shoot black & white and sepia? (which can give a classic, artistic look) Do their models look relaxed and at ease? If you're not impressed with their work, walk away and find someone else.
Look for someone who's experienced with maternity photography: a photographer who specializes in working with pregnant women will have a better understanding of poses and what will look flattering and artistic.
You wouldn't go to a pet groomer for a new hairstyle; the same applies to photography - someone who's great with landscapes may not be all that when it comes to maternity photos - experience counts.
On the technical side, ask if they use digital or film.
While both can produce outstanding results, film does have a little higher quality and tends to have greater longevity.
It costs a little more, but I believe that quality is worth paying for.
Ask if the photographer will be involved in the selection and editing process.
You want their professional guidance and opinion when it comes time to select the best poses and how to crop and finish them.
This is an important part of the process and if not handled to your satisfaction you may end up with a bunch of pictures that you're not happy with.
Don't be afraid to ask for referrals.
A testimonial, even a brief one, from a satisfied client carries more weight than a lot slick advertising and marketing.
Ask questions, take your time, and you'll find the right maternity photographer for you...
good luck!
