- 1). Watch for signs of digestive problems especially in small breeds such as loud bowel sounds, diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration issues and failure to eat or be as active as they would be normally.
- 2). Take away the dog's normal food and replace with a diet of bland food such as small portions of rice and plain boiled meat such as poultry. Restricting amounts can help lessen digestion problems such as vomiting.
- 3). Keep plenty of fresh water available for the dog at all times.
- 4). Call a veterinarian for proper dosage of Pepto Bismol, which can aid in settling stomach discomfort and digestion problems. Pepto Bismol can be given easily with a small syringe or dropper in the side of the mouth between the teeth and cheek. Just give a small amount at a time until the proper dosage as prescribed by vet has been given.
- 5). Provide warm bedding and quiet area in which the canine can lay and rest until the stomach issues resolve. Heating bedding such as a blanket or towel helps aid in any stomach discomfort.
- 6). Monitor the dog until the digestive problems have resolved completely and then wait at least 24 hours before resuming any regular diet.
