Stacy"s Garden Stepping Stone 3

See a picture of a home-made garden stepping stone submitted by Stacy Johnson. It features stones, beads, and handprints.

"Hi, my name is Stacy Johnson. I was looking for a creative idea for Mother's Day and I came across your article. I went to a craft store to gather materials and I got the kit that comes with the concrete, paint, paintbrush, two different types of stones and a mixing stick. The kit that I got made the heart shaped stone. It was $12.99. I also went to my local Wal-Mart and purchased a few extra embellishments.

I used glow in the dark beads for the handprint and also for the words. I got the rocks at the Dollar Tree. Overall, the project was not expensive for making 2 different stones. I had a little left over to do a small stone. My daughter is three years old and she had fun dumping the embellishments out and handing them to me. She also loved sticking her hand in the cement. The kit that I bought only had enough cement for the one stone and I tore the heart-mold. So, I went and got a plastic plant "bottom" for $.64. The extra cement was $6.99, but there was enough left over to make the extra stone. We had a lot of fun doing this and I think that my mom and step-mom will be speechless. Thank you for the great idea."

I hope you enjoy making your own garden stepping stone and then send in a photo to have it featured here.
