How to Find Social Security Benefits

    • 1). Go to SSA.gov and click on the "What You Can Do Online" option on the left-hand side of the screen (see Resources).

    • 2). Apply for Social Security benefits if you have not already by clicking on the "Apply for Benefits" option. Click on the "Do You Qualify for Benefits?" option. You can find out what benefits you qualify for, and how they will be represented in your benefits package. If you already know you have benefits, continue to Step 3.

    • 3). Click on the "If You Get Benefits..." option. From the expanded drop-down menu, click on the "Request a Proof of Income letter.." This option will give you the opportunity to receive a letter that details all of your benefit information.

    • 4). Read through the information about the proof of income letter. Click on the "Your Local Social Security Office" option if you need your information sooner. If you're fine with receiving the letter, click on the "Start" button at the bottom of the page and then click on the "Continue" button.

    • 5). Read through the Public Agreement and click on the "I Agree" button.

    • 6). Enter your Social Security number and all other fields to verify your information. Click on the "Continue" button, and you'll be taken to a screen that says your proof of income will be sent to your address within 10 days.
