There are many different techniques that you can use to try and control dog barking, but one method that is rarely used is the Serendipitous method.
If you have not hear of this method before or have never tried it you will be amazed at how obvious this type of control method can be when properly taught to your dog.
Basically with this method you train your dog to bark on command, but also to stop on command, so your dog starts to view barking differently.
Not as a natural thing to do, but more of a command to be obeyed.
Most dogs make noise to either get attention or to scare away possible intruders, but when you get your dog to bark on command you change how they feel about barking.
Now is it a behavior that is to be controlled.
In exchange for controlling this behavior your dog will receive lots of positive attention from you.
Also, since you now have a firm command to get your dog to stop making noise, you can use that more easily than just resorting to yelling at your dog whenever they make noise.
Training your dog to bark on command can be difficult if all you have ever done to them is to tell them to be quiet.
But with some coaxing from you, you should be able to elicit this response.
Most people have never used this Serendipitous method before, but once you train your dog to do it, you will have even more tools to control their behavior.
