When you think of Edinburgh, you may think of the castle, the army tattoo, the Fringe Festival - and youd be right; all those things are Edinburgh.
Whether you want a traditional Scotch whisky in a traditional bar or a rainbow of cocktails in a posh urban bar, Edinburgh offers the most sundry and decorative of pub and bar crawls. But its a city, like the remainder of Scotland, also well known for its drinking culture. Both bars have cocktail lists to die for, as well as a good selection of beers and wines, for those who like their alcohol to be less inebriating.
The majority of the hen weekends in Edinburgh start at one of many themed pubs - which include a Frankenstein bar, and a number of American-style bars, decorated with vehicle registration plates and other US mementos. From five-star hotels overlooking the castle and gardens, to dormitory rooms in hostels costing only a round of drinks per head.
Unless you would like to have to pay an arm and a leg on even the most elementary of hotels or BBs, dont plan your hen do when the army tattoo or Fringe Festival are on - so that wipes out all of August. Walk down a couple of these streets, and youll be handed flyers for close by party venues - and the leaflet might get you cash off entry or a free drink.
If you are preparing on wearing fancy dress, its best to avoid the traditional bars that line the streets in Edinburghs old town. If you are heading for the bars, make sure to go all glammed up so you will fit in the trendy atmosphere.
If you are in Scotland, and you are need to head for the town thats best for hen weekends, Edinburgh is your destination.
