If you are suffering from some short-term memory loss, some skills on how to improve your memory might be useful.
Wouldn't we all like to stop forgetting the car keys and the wedding anniversaries all the time, after all things like that can get us into a lot of trouble.
Improving memory skills isn't all that hard to learn as many people might think, actually it can sometimes be quite easy.
Here in this article I will take a look at some of the things that you can do to improve your memory and hopefully live a better life.
One of the ways to improve your memory skills and to remember every day things better is through a story.
Now I am not going to tell you any story here if that's what you thought , but you are.
Of course you won't be telling that story to me but rather to you brain, so that the darn thing might actually remember something once in a while.
Ok, here is how it goes.
Let's say that you have five things to remember tomorrow.
Now what you do is that you develop a story in your mind that has all those five things in it, your brain is much more likely to remember these thing in form of a story.
Now let's say that one of the things you have to do tomorrow is to pick up a cake from the bakery.
Now all you have to do is to include the cake somehow in your story, simple isn't it.
If you like thrillers, it could be a story where somebody gets murdered at their birthday party just as they are about to blow the candles of their cake.
Of course it might not be a good idea to feed your brains with violent stories like this all the time, so just make up some nicer stories as well, just to stay at the safe side.
Now does this whole thing sound stupid to you? I don't blame you if it does but it does work, at least up to a certain point.
What it does the very least is that it forces you to think, and thinking is obviously quite an important factor when improving your memory skills.
The reason why we older people forget everything and anything is that we stop using our brains, and if we don't use something, well it just gets more and more fragile as the time goes by.
So stop making lists to remember things, instead start telling stories!
