How to Repair an Electric Wiper Motor

    • 1). Use your socket set to loosen the negative battery cable on your car, truck or SUV. Once it is loose, pull the cable off your negative battery post.

    • 2). Find the wiper motor on your vehicle. Wiper motors are typically mounted on the back end of the driver's side wheel well. If your wiper motor is not in this spot, consult your owner's manual.

    • 3). Remove the plastic wiring harness connected to your vehicle's wiper motor.

    • 4). Remove the mounting bolts that hold your vehicle's wiper motor in place on the wheel well. Once you have removed these bolts, lift the old motor out. Set the new wiper down where the old one was mounted and insert the retaining bolts. Tighten the wiper motor retaining bolts with your socket set.

    • 5). Plug the wiring harness into the new wiper motor and attach your negative battery cable and tighten it.
