Pain, Anger and a Change of Perspective

"It's eating me up!" "When...
happens, I get so ticked off," "I want to just slap her...
" We get so angry sometimes - too many times.
Expecting something and then being frustrated.
Watching somebody and judging them by our own standards.
Wanting something and not being able to get it.
Something happens, and we don't like it.
So many opportunities every day to get angry.
So many times we think we should show it.
Just as many times we think we should hide it.
So much pain, physical and emotional, inflicted upon others.
So much pain eaten up inside ourselves.
Why even get to that point? Get angry? Somewhere I read: All pain is resistance to "what is".
It seems to me, anger is the expression of that resistance; looking for justification and help from outside to lessen the pain inside.
'm asking myself, how can we absorb the annoyances, even blows we are being dealt in our daily lives? If we managed that, there would be no resistance, no pain, no anger.
Studies have shown, that people are more motivated to move away from pain than they are attracted to pleasure.
So what does getting angry do for us? Do you truly feel better for letting off steam, acting out of anger? Do you? Sure, short term it works.
We show that we mean it; self reinforcing our opinions.
We feel more powerful, for a moment at least.
Anger protects us.
Others move out of the way.
It could mean pain for them.
Too much anger, getting angry too fast and at too many things can isolate us.
Then we have two choices: Keeping it in and hurt ourselves-or lashing out at who or whatever isn't fast or perceptive enough to get out of the way.
So what have we accomplished? What seems justified to us may not look right to someone else at all.
Remember, we wouldn't get angry at them, if they would think and act like ourselves.
And if we ourselves have a right as human beings to or own ways and means, don't they? A little respect would often go a long way.
When we realize, that we can change our own way of looking at things much easier than someone else's, a lot of anger, stress and pain vanishes from our lives.
This doesn't mean we have to always agree and do what others expect.
It simply means LIVE AND LET LIVE.
Let it be OK and watch, don't impose, because we all enjoy being respected.
