How to Neutralize Antifreeze

    • 1). Pour a half cup of vinegar onto the antifreeze spill. Vinegar is a base, which is the opposite of antifreeze, which is an acid.

    • 2). Let the vinegar neutralize the antifreeze for 10 minutes.

    • 3). Place the end of the litmus paper on the vinegar and antifreeze mixture.

    • 4). Check the pH level of the mixture of liquids. If the pH level is pH 7, the antifreeze is neutralized. Rinse the area with distilled water. Distilled water has a neutral pH.

    • 5). Pour 1 tablespoon of vinegar over the spill if the pH level is higher than pH 7. Continue until the pH level reaches pH 7. Rinse the area with distilled water after it is neutralized.
