Worried About Tax Increases - If You Live In California You Should Be

President Obama didn't promise very much during this election campaign, certainly not like he did in 2008.
In fact, many of those promises never came to fruition, but most are not that surprised, as the promises were pretty much over the top, and made in emotion filled political rhetoric during the most critical times of the election season.
Nevertheless, here we are today in 2012, and President Obama did promise to raise taxes on the rich and wealthy.
Indeed, I'm pretty sure we can hold him to that, even if in many regards taxing this minority at a higher percentage than everyone else is somewhat unfair.
Of course, if you think President Obama and the Obama Administration are going to be heavy-handed on taxes, you should see what they're doing out in California.
People in California actually voted for higher taxes, much of which was promised to go to the schools, and to prevent the raising of tuition cost at public colleges (California Universities and Community Colleges).
Okay so let's talk about this for a few moments shall we? There were two interesting articles recently in the Wall Street Journal on November 9, 2012 which might make folks think twice about exactly how they vote in the future.
Socialism has definitely crept-in in the Dark Blue state of sunny California.
The two articles were: 1.
) "California Democrats Near a Supermajority, Two-Thirds of Seats in Senate and Assembly Would Likely End Gridlock in the State; GOP Worries About Tax Increases," by Vauhini Vara (regular article).
2.
) "California's Liberal Supermajority," WSJ Editorial.
The second article had an interesting line, I'd like to quote; "Taxpayers are going to get all the government they've ever wanted.
" The editorial explained that public unions and other contributors spent some $500 million getting a tax increase initiative passed.
Indeed, the younger voters, many college students showed up in mass to vote for the ballot measure, as the additional money would help prevent rising tuition and also help give a boost to school funding.
With Democrats having a super majority in the California legislature, and a Democrat governor it will be quite easy for them to push socialism much further and quite a bit faster.
Those who are worried about tax increases have every right to be no matter where they live in the United States, but if you live in California it is a foregone conclusion, in fact it is now the law.
Your taxes will be raised, but I'm sure this isn't the end of it, not with a super majority running the state.
Will this help the state get out of their billions of dollars in debt? Probably not, well, I shouldn't say that, it will help temporarily, but not on the long run, because historically in California it has been a fact that when the government gets more money, it spends more.
When it spends more, it wants more and expands obligating itself to more costs, with more agencies, and larger budgets plus the legacy costs of all those public employee future pensioners.
So therefore the taxes will just continue to go up and up, and up and away "until the government runs out of other people's money to spend.
" Am I saying that California will end up like Greece? It looks that way, but we don't know that yet, perhaps at some point they will find a conservative streak, and attempt to live within their means.
No, I am certainly not going to hold my breath on that, I'm just saying, hell, I guess anything is possible these days.
Please consider all this and think on it.
