I don't know about you, but the new year always makes me feel as if I want to do something new.
It makes me want to take on a new challenge and achieve bigger and better things.
The trouble is once the year gets underway all of that gets lost in the day to day trudge of going to work, coming home, eating, watching TV, catching up with the family and sleeping! The dream gets lost for another year! Why not make this year different? Make this the year that you actually do something about those feelings.
Take a step further forward than you did last year and actually put something into action.
If you've been thinking that self employment is maybe for you then maybe it is finances that are holding you back? It is very difficult to start a new business if you have a mortgage and other financial commitments.
You need time for a business to grow before you can start to pay yourself a wage.
It really is the classic catch 22 situation.
You want to do something to get yourself out of a rut, but it is your day job, the very thing you find so boring, that provides the stability and the money you need to keep paying the mortgage and the bills and the food and clothing.
The trick perhaps is to start small.
Very small.
Start something that doesn't cost you much, or indeed anything, to set up and then grow the business slowly.
That way you can keep your day job and all the financial security it brings and at the same time slowly build something that at first might give you some extra money, but eventually might take over from your boring day job.
You do not need a whacking great loan and a big start to make a business successful.
It might be quicker to do it that way, but it is also a quick way to financial ruin if you get it wrong.
Start small and that way the risks are low and you get to keep your financial security.
There are many great businesses you can start from your very own home.
Some cost absolutely nothing to get started.
Some may cost a small amount to get off the ground.
All will benefit from the low overheads that working from home brings.
Make this the year that the new year dream begins to turn into reality.
