Travel & Leisure in Cape Cod

Cape Cod is one of those magical places in the United States where nature has created a strip of beauty that attracts humans like steel to a magnet. The long sandy beaches, stunning vegetation and American history makes Cape Cod a great destination location for seasonal travel.
When I am planning a beach trip, I want to make sure I am at the right kind of beach that has all the accouterments that make a vacation perfect for me.
This means I need the seashore within a miles walk, but I like some privacy on my beaches, so I've always enjoyed Wellfleet. It is about a half hour from Provence Town and Hyannis, so you can avoid the crowds.
A good place to look for Wellfleet accommodations [http://www.wellfleetchamber.com] is their Chamber of Commerce site. They have a lot of other good information about the area, like a tide chart for all those fishermen on your trip.
As much as I like swimming in the sea, sometimes the best way to finish off a beach day is in the pool. I've spent a decent amount of time finding Cape Cod hotels with indoor pools [http://www.wellfleetmotel.com/leisure.html] and my favorite by far is the Wellfleet Motel. It is much cheaper then most Cape Cod hotels, and it right next to the National Seashore and a very nice bike trail.
My second favorite area on Cape Cod is Yarmouth Port. This area of the Cape is full of American history, and it is extremely charming. A hotel stay doesn't really match the Yarmouth Port experience as well as a bed and breakfast does. They are usually pricier, but the innkeepers always have great advice about how to spend the day and what is worth seeing. And, when it comes to looking for Cape Cod inns you won't find a nicer one than the Inn at Cape Cod.
The building is old, old, old but well refurbished and reeks of history! It is very beautiful, and also located close to a lot of the great things to visit in Port Yarmouth. Another good option for Cape Cod lodging is Blueberry manor. Also a very historic old Cape building, the innkeepers here are lively and funny and Jerry is a Cape Cod know-it-all and can help you plan all the details of your stay.
The gardens around this inn are luscious, and it is worth a night's stay just to take a walk through them after breakfast. Oh yeah, that's the other great thing about B&Bs, you get breakfast, and usually a lot, every morning!
In conclusion, these are the two best places on Cape Cod to visit without feeling like just another tourist in the crowd. Enjoy serenity and refreshment in Wellfleet and Port Yarmouth.
