Century Real Estate, in association with the BMS College of Engineering, today announced the results of the Century Golden Brick Awards 2011, at a grand Awards Ceremony attended by experts from the Architecture and Construction fields. The contest was designed to encourage creativity and innovation among Karnatakas budding architects. The winners, in addition to winning cash prizes worth Rs.70000, got the opportunity to work with international architecture firms on a live Century project.

This is the first time that a real estate company has organized such an event for students, and though it is in its very first year, the response has been overwhelming, with close to 100 teams registering from various colleges across the state. Century Real Estate intends to establish this as an annual contest, and hopes to expand the scope to a national level in the coming years.
Students sent in their designs for a Senior Citizen Centre in North Bangalore as per the brief given.
The jury consisted of eminent Bangalore architects - Mr. Sanjay Mohe, Mr. Itty Zachariah, Mr. Arunjot Bhalla and Mr. Prem Chandavarkar. They shortlisted 5 submissions and these teams were given a chance to display their projects and answer questions from the judges. After walking through the final project exhibits, the judges deliberated and selected the work of Vinay TS from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore as the Best Design. Vinay walked away the proud winner of Rs. 50,000 and beautiful Golden Brick trophies. A Promising Talent award of Rs. 20,000 was given to Akash Raju and Aakarsh Shamanur from RVCE, Bangalore.

The Century Golden Brick Awards Ceremony was held at the BMS Auditorium, and the event was kicked off with a panel discussion on Professional Practice in India: Challenges and Experiences, with panellists Mr.Sanjay Mohe, Mr.Prem Chandavarkar, Mr.Arunjot Bhalla, and Mr.Itty Zachariah sharing their vast bodies of experiences with the students and audience present. A question and answer session ensued, with students getting a chance to join in the discussion. This was followed by the Century Golden Brick Award Ceremony, where the winners of the contest were announced.

In furtherance of the revelry and celebrative mood, Century Real Estate had organized a rock show for students of Bangalore. The rock show was opened by college bands from various colleges, and featured celebrity rock band Galeej Gurus headlining, to a 700-strong student crowd.
