For anyone that is addicted to alcohol may not think or know that your drinking affects others and the effects of your alcoholism on your family.
I personally never thought of this when I was drinking and abusing alcohol for many years.
The alcoholic tends to not think of how his/her actions and lifestyle affects so many other people who love and care for you.
We tend to be blinded by our own addiction to alcohol, sad to say, but so very true.
Our addiction to alcohol has taken over our lives and in turn ruining our families and destroying friendships along the way.
Alcoholism in a family is something that will never go away unless the alcoholic is willing to change his/her life around.
I never realize how my addiction to alcohol effected my family until I became clean and sober.
It was then I could see the happiness among my family and friends faces.
They were so relieved and happy that I finally took that first step toward sobriety.
One will never know the feeling of long-term sobriety unless you take that first step in finding it.
So many things we miss out on while we are placing alcohol before all else.
There probably were many things you had decided to not do because of no alcohol being served or available, such as parties, special occasions.
Many people who have these functions do not serve alcohol for the fact that when people start drinking and getting carried away with their drinking they tend to forget about the real reason they are even there.
They are only worried about getting that free buzz from drinking free booze.
I know because I was one of those people just a few years ago.
So if you have never thought about if your drinking affects others such as your family and friends, then I would recommend stopping and taking a good look around you.
It is not hard to miss it when you look into the eyes of a family member while you are drinking and you can just see the anger and disappointment they are having all because you choose to continue to drink and abuse alcohol.
When I became clean and sober is when I heard all the stories that were hidden from me while I drank alcohol.
I was floored by what I heard by many of people.
They held back from telling me many things and what they thought of the lifestyle I was leading for the fear of what I would say or do.
So the fact of the matter is if you have an addiction to alcohol you are not only affecting your life as far as your the quality of life and you health, you are affecting all those that love and care for you and the life you are living.
