- 1). Create the desired header for your MySpace page using your computer's graphic or word processing software. Save your header file in a common image format like JPG or GIF. Making your header into a digital image ensures that your style choices, such as font and type size, are displayed correctly on your page.
- 2). Place your header file on a free Web host such as FileFactory or MediaFire (see Resources for links). Use the provider's method for adding your file to its server, then record the URL address that displays when you are done. A host enables your header file to be seen on the Internet.
- 3). Access the xiii.us website's "eGen topBanner image" page (see link in the Resource section). The tool on this site creates the code you need to correctly position your header image.
- 4). Click the "Just Below Ad" option in the "Where to Place Banner" drop-down menu to specify that you want your header to go above the MySpace search engine. Select your profile type, such as "mySpace 2.0," from the "Page Type" menu.
- 5). Enter the URL address for your header image in the "URL of Image" text field and click the "Get Code" button to continue. Copy the code that displays and read the accompanying instructions for information on where to place your code in MySpace.
- 6). Log in to your MySpace account and click the "Edit Profile" option under the "Profile" menu. Paste the code in the particular section, such as "General Interests," as instructed in Step 5. Click the "Save Changes" button to finish adding your new header above the search engine.
