- 1). Open the hood of the F150 and disconnect the truck's negative battery cable (if it is not disconnected) by loosening its cable clamp nut with a wrench. Do not work in the F150 if the engine is hot.
- 2). Connect the shorter boot to the ignition coil connector on the coil pack, twisting it into place and making sure the boot's locking tabs engage with the connector.
- 3). Check the number of the ignition coil that you connected the wire to, if there are multiple coils without wires. A diagram is placed on the coil pack, indicating each coil's number. You must connect the wire to the spark plug hole with the same number.
- 4). Insert a spark plug into the hole on the cylinder head if there isn't one already--thread the plug into the hole by hand, then tighten it the rest of the way with a ratchet and a spark plug socket.
- 5). Twist, insert and connect the spark plug wire's other end into the spark plug hole, connecting it to the plug.
- 6). Repeat the above steps for all other ignition coils and spark plugs that need wires.
