- 1). Turn your Sure Fit slipcover inside out and put it on your couch or chair. Take your time with this, making sure to tuck it into any crevices and install it as you would if it were right-side out.
- 2). Look carefully for any excess fabric, which will gather into corners, seam lines and crevices. Pull two layers of the excess slipcover fabric away from the furniture, gathering it until the fabric against the furniture is smooth and taut. Pin through both layers as close to the furniture as you can, creating a pinned seam line. Mark this seam line with your soluble fabric marker. Continue until your slipcover is tailored perfectly to your furniture.
- 3). Examine the edge of the slipcover closest to the floor. If it is too long, turn the bottom edge up and pin into place until it rests 1/8 inch from the floor. Continue turning up and pinning around the entire bottom edge of the slipcover. Remove your slipcover carefully from the furniture, making sure all of the pins stay in place.
- 4). Thread your sewing machine according to your manufacturer's instructions. Sew along each of the seam lines you marked on the body of your slipcover with a straight stitch, making sure to back stitch at the beginning and end of each of your seams. Trim all the excess fabric 1/4 inch away from the seam line you sewed.
- 5). Sew your hem along the bottom edge of the slipcover. Stitch 1/4 inch away from the left of the bottom edge with a straight stitch. Continue your hem all along the bottom edge, making sure to back stitch at the beginning and end of your hem. Trim excess fabric 1/8 inch away from the hem line you sewed. Turn right side out and press carefully with a hot iron.
