- While pregnant, your body releases relaxin, a hormone that makes your more flexible. This helps your body adjust to the changes needed to house your pregnancy as well as deliver your child.
- If you're feeling pain while sleeping, you need to support your body more. Get a full body support pillow to place between your legs and under your growing tummy.
- Everybody is different, but at some point, it may be difficult to continue your normal exercise routine. If it's causing you hip pain, stop. Consult your doctor or physical therapist for alternatives more appropriate to your changing body.
- Chiropractors, especially those experienced in working on pregnant patients, can be invaluable. A good massage is also a way to manage discomfort and ease the tension being newly placed on your body. Make sure, however, that the masseuse avoids your feet, as acupressure points in your feet can trigger labor.
- Hip pain is often reflective pain. That is, the pain is not actually in your hip, but elsewhere on your body. Work with your doctor and physical therapist to find the source to manage it best during your pregnancy.
