Decorate Your Room With Posters

In this article we look at the two types of posters you can use to decorate your bedroom walls and give tips on how you can display them to maximum effect.

Many young people decorate their bedrooms with posters of their favourite bands, movies and other pop culture icons. Some spend a lot of time plastering their walls with fantastic artwork of their favourite stars, and in this article we offer a few ideas on what you can do to make your bedroom look great with posters and prints of your heroes!

Ensure you have a blank canvas

The best way to get started decorating your room with posters and artwork is to ensure that you walls are solid colours and wallpaper-free. It will not look right if you have floral prints or images beneath the posters so if you can, paint over this before you get started.

Colourful posters

If you live in a vibrant atmosphere and your personality is somewhat colourful, you should go for lively and intense imagery. This can be posters which include bright colours - fire, water and other elements are good for doing this. Angle the posters and overlap them; create a feeling of turbulence to really make them work well.

There will be many posters of the bands and artists you like that are represented in this manner; just look out for it next time you are shopping around for posters.

Black and white posters

If you live in a more minimal setting, perhaps without clutter and not much colour, then a black and white artsy shot is for you. Get images of landscapes, cityscapes, or vintage pictures of your heroes in large prints and adorn your walls with them. Evenly place them and ensure they are all at the correct angles to make this work best.

If you want to take the more classy approach, buy framed artwork. These are often available in strong black wooden frames with a clear white gutter of around 3 inches. These look really nice especially if they are signed original copies!

Don't go overboard

It is easy to put up too many prints and posters, even if trying to create a hectic environment. The trick is to establish a balance between wall space used and wall space free. This is something of an art so keep experimenting until you feel you have worked with the room available to you and have gotten it right.
