- 1). Prepare nails before the IBD Gel application, as recommended by IBD. Remove any old nail polish with nail polish remover on a cotton pad. File nails to a desired shape and push back cuticles with a cuticle stick.
- 2). Wash hands with soap and water. Dry with a clean towel. Use a buffer or buffing block to make nails less shiny. Clean nails of dust using an IBD nail wipe or a towel.
- 3). Apply a single layer of IBD Gelac Nail Prep to prepare nails for the gel application. Wait until it dries completely.
- 4). Apply the IBD Gelac Bonding Base Coat to all four fingers in a thin layer, skip thumbs for now. When applying, remove excess polish from the brush and position the brush in the center of the nail. Avoid brushing it over cuticles.
- 5). Place fingers in the IBD UV lamp and cure them for one minute. You can use any IBD UV lamp, such as the Jet 1000, Jet 5000 or Jet Elite with 36 watts. Repeat steps for the second hand, then repeat for the thumbs. Both thumbs can be placed simultaneously under the lamp in the designated spots, but place them flat so they are cured evenly.
- 6). Place the bottle of IBD Gelac UV Gel Polish between your hands and roll to mix the color without forming any bubbles which would result from shaking. Open the bottle and remove excess polish from the brush. Apply an even, thin coat of this polish to all four nails on each hand starting at the center of nail. Do this carefully so the color is brushed evenly to the nail, covering the entire nail bed and not getting onto the cuticle line. Apply color to the tip edge of each nail to keep nails from chipping.
- 7). Cure the four nails of one hand in the UV lamp for two minutes and repeat for the second hand. Then, apply a second layer of this polish to each hand, and cure again for two minutes. Repeat the process for your thumbs. At this point, you should have even color all over which isn't at all sheer. Using the additional polishes rather than just the gel polish alone, ensures the color will last longer and the gel will be stronger.
- 8). Seal the gel application with the IBD Gelac Top Coat. Apply a single thin layer of this top coat to the four nails on each hand starting at the center, and remember to cover each nail edge as well. Place the nails of one hand in the UV lamp and cure for three minutes. Repeat for the second hand, then repeat for the thumbs.
- 9). Cleanse nails with the IBD Gelac Nail Cleanser. Pour a few drops of this solution onto lint-free nail pads, one for each nail. Gently press each pad onto each nail separately and wipe from cuticle to tip to remove the top gel film. Do not use a single pad on more than one finger since it will disturb the top coat by making it uneven or dull.
