There are a wide range of positive reasons as to why you should massage a baby.
Not only does massaging a baby increase the relationship between the child and person doing the massage, but it also provides physical benefits as it can be used to treat and prevent illness.
All of this and more can be provided simply by massaging the baby for as little as five minutes.
And as well all know, its the quality of time we spend doing something, not the quantity of time, which is the important factor.
And when it comes to baby massage, this is never more evident, as massaging a baby is a special time, as it's a special moment in which undivided attention is given to the child in an expression of love and pleasure.
You see, babies need touch, and long for touch, especially when there very young.
You see it in other cultures, whereby the baby will typically be strapped to the mothers chest or back at all times.
Mothers doing this are often highly attuned to their babies, due to this bonding approach, which breeds intuition and compassion.
This all begins with a simple touch.
Unfortunately, due to the hectic life style most of us now live, especially in the western world, many of the opportunities to bond with our child are not so apparent.
Nowadays a variety of drugs are used during child birth in order to reduce the sensation of labour, and that connection.
The connection is also lost with some mothers, due to them preferring not to let the baby suck on their teet, and instead preferring to feed the baby with baby formula.
It's important to think of the many ways in which these opportunities to bond with the baby are lost, and to try and claw them back as best we can, and one of the best ways of doing this is a baby massage for as little as 5 minutes a day.
