The Breath-Taking View From Signal Mountain - Port Louis, Mauritius!

I have been living in Port Louis for 24 years now and the one thing that literally takes away my breath is the view from the summit of Signal Mountain.
It is one of those things you have to do, at least once in your life, especially if you live in Mauritius.
The way up the mountain may prove to be difficult for some if you are not used to the long walks uphill.
To make this walk more enjoyable, you would want to wear comfortable running shoes, take a bottle of water to keep hydrated and a sweater to avoid catching a cold.
You can climb the mountain in the morning or evening.
It is not advisable to go up at midday as the weather is scorching.
Morning people should at all cost walk up just before dawn, around 5am, and bring along a torch light if possible.
The cool breeze on your face, the smell of fresh air and this feeling of being so close to nature, despite actually being in the busy capital of Port Louis, will make you disconnect with the daily rush and commotion.
As you walk up you will see how the scenery changes.
From buildings, parking lots and houses you will get to see the majestic mountain range and hear the light breeze rustling of the leaves on the trees of the mountains.
This walk is an experience not to be missed at any cost.
The higher you get the clearer your surroundings will get, the Sun will slowly defeat the darkness.
You will have the chance of admiring this city of Mauritius from high above and realise how small things can get.
The view over the harbour and Caudan Waterfront is like art.
Next thing you know, you hear the birds chirping and in no time you will be at your destination; the top of Signal Mountain.
The sun rays piercing through the clouds and the vast endless view over the ocean will take away your breath the same way it takes mine every single time.
Take time to breathe in the feeling and inflate your lungs with the fresh air.
The feeling of being one with more than what is just material never gets old.
If you want to see how these rays of light disappear in the conquering darkness you should walk up the Signal Mountain at dusk.
There are more people who walk up the mountain in the evening than in the morning.
You can hear the busy Port Louis and witness how the noise slowly fades out.
The view is equally grand in the evening as in the morning.
You will not regret for a second climbing up the Signal Mountain.
Enjoy the walk up and you will not realise how far you have walked! The place is mystical; do not just take my word for it though!
