Seafood is very versatile in recipes. A variety of dishes can be constructed using seafood. You can grill it with some spices added to it. You can put fish, shrimp and scallops on skewers. You can make soups and a variety of casseroles. The ingredients and spices are not typically sweet, but you can make a fish cake for dessert that is delicious and moist. Whatever you and your family are wanting to eat, when it comes to seafood, you can find a recipe that works. - Gumbo is a thick stew with Louisiana roots. The dish blends together a variety of spices with shrimp, crab and oysters, sausage and okra. Gumbo can easily be altered. If you don't like sausage, take it out. If you're a shrimp lover, add more. If you like it hot, don't be afraid to use that hot sauce that's sitting in your fridge. There are several variations of gumbo to choose from.
- It all depends on what type of seafood you like when you make seafood cakes or patties. The most common variety is salmon cakes. You can also make shrimp cakes and crab cakes or create a combination. Seafood cakes usually carry a variety of spices and different vegetables. Once the patties are formed they are fried in oil.
- These are not fish sticks. There are numerous recipes for breaded, baked fish. You can make Louisiana catfish, which is rolled in a mixture of spices and corn meal. You can make beer battered fish, which combines beer and baking mix. You can roll the fish in panko, which is Japanese bread crumbs. All of these are fried in oil after being breaded.
- Seafood and pasta work well with one another and they're not limited to one sauce or ethnicity. White, alfredo and tomato sauces go well. You don't have to stick to just Italian recipes, either. You can branch out into Chinese recipes, too. You can make shrimp fettuccine alfredo, crab lasagna or salmon lo mein.
