- 1). Select the order that players will be shooting. The order has a tremendous impact on the result of the game. If you are shooting right after a hot shot, you can be eliminated quickly. On the other hand, if you are following a weaker player, you can hang in there for a while pretty easily. You can select by drawing straws, shooting free throws, by age-whatever way you agree is fair.
- 2). Have the first player take a shot. The shot can be as simple as a layup or as difficult as a between-the-legs 360-degree shot with a blindfold on.
- 3). If he/she makes it, then the second player must replicate that shot. If the second player makes the shot, then it moves to the third player. This continues until a player misses the shot (he/she receives a letter for that) or it circulates through every player and they all make the shot (the original shooter gets a letter for that). With the original player getting a letter if everyone makes it, it is in his/her best interest to take more difficult shots so everyone doesn't make it.
- 4). If the first player misses his/her original shot, it moves to the second player to start the process. Whenever someone misses a shot, the next player is free to create his/her own shot.
- 5). The game continues with players getting letters when they miss a shot that the player before them has made.
- 6). When a player has gotten each of the letters: H-O-R-S-E, he/she is eliminated from the game.
- 7). The winner is the player that is left when all others are eliminated.
