Nicole is brought to the hospital, where a cop is wondering when she'll be able to answer questions. "The question isn't when, but if," replies the doctor. Nicole later awakens, then looks around and says Sydney's name. She tries to get up but is too weak.
Java Café
Melanie sits with Arianna and admits that she's had a small number of boyfriends, but a surprisingly large number of breakups. Arianna suggests that it could mean she'll get back together with Nathan, since her breakups aren't really permanent.
Mia approaches them and apologizes, saying she forgot what kind of muffin Melanie ordered. Melanie says it's because she asked an hour and a half ago. "Yeah, and what kind of muffin you want is the biggest thing on my mind right now," quips Mia before she walks off. Mia looks at the missing child flyer of Sydney.
Melanie brings two muffins over to the table, where she berates herself for talking about her "stupid love life" while Arianna is worried about Sydney and the kidnapping. Arianna wonders what Melanie's so afraid of with Philip. Melanie insists that having it bad for somebody isn't a basis for having a healthy, meaningful relationship. Arianna smiles how Melanie has a better chance of making it with a guy who turns her on rather than a guy who looks good on paper, but doesn't really "float her boat." She refers to Philip as handsome, wealthy, and more importantly, he gets to Melanie on a different level than Nathan.
Carly shows up at the Java Café and says hi to Mia. She reveals that she's on her way to Maggie's and moving in today.
Mia isn't exactly rolling out the welcome wagon. Carly tries to talk to Mia, but Mia requests for Carly to just leave her alone when she moves in.
Meanwhile, Arianna surmises that Melanie wishes she was crazy about Nathan, since he's nice, smart, reliable, and from a good family. Melanie claims she is crazy for Nathan. Arianna recalls how Mel told her that Philip was unreliable, self-absorbed, and arrogant. Melanie insists that it's her point. "He's what YOU want," interjects Arianna. Melanie wonders what makes Ari an expert on the subject. "Nothing. Nothing at all," replies Arianna.
Nearby, Mia apologizes for talking that way to Carly, admitting that she wishes she didn't open up to her before. Carly backs up and offers to leave her alone, then runs into Melanie, spilling hot coffee all over her. Melanie tells Carly to leave her alone. Carly insists that she's a doctor and tells her to put it under cold water. Arianna approaches them and asks if Mel's okay, but she says no.
Melanie's arm is bandaged up and mentions that she doesn't want clumsy doctors walking around the hospital since they have to carry things like scalpels. Arianna says it was an accident. Gabi arrives and asks her sis if there's any news. Ari says not yet, then makes the introductions.
After Melanie leaves, Ari asks Gabi if they can have a truce. Gabi just wants to know about the baby. Ari doesn't know anything right now and doesn't want to call Rafe and bother him. Gabi asks her to call Brady. Arianna refuses to call Brady, since it's over. Gabi throws the drug thing in Arianna's face. Arianna insists that Gabi doesn't understand what's going on and drags her outside to talk.
Gabi notes how rough Arianna is being and wonders where she learned to do that. Arianna implies how there are some things you learn in prison. "I am working undercover for the cops, okay? So can you kindly keep your mouth shut from now on?" reveals Ari. Gabi urges her to tell Brady. Arianna insists that he already knows what she's doing, but it's not why they broke up. "You did something even worse, or is it because he's still in love with that other woman?" asks Gabi. Arianna tells her sister to go home, but Gabi refuses.
Back at the Pub
Mia approaches Bo and asks if he's heard anything about Sydney. Bo confirms that he did hear something and believes it's going to be good news. He assumes that it has to be tough on her, since the feelings don't just go away. He encourages Mia to write down her cell phone number, agreeing to call when they get Sydney back. Mia recalls how Will said Bo and his whole family were really nice. "You obviously have not met his Grandma Kate," deduces Bo. Mia thanks him and leaves.
Philip meets Bo and refers to Nathan as a jerk for dumping Melanie and telling him that he's not good enough for her. Bo thought it was over between Philip and Melanie after the whole sex on the Internet ordeal. Bo reminds Philip that he has screwed up with pretty amazing women in the past. Philip intends not to blow it this time with Melanie.
Carly arrives at Maggie's place with her suitcase. Melanie soon comes home is about to go through the kitchen door, but screams when Carly emerges. Mia arrives home and Melanie fills her in on the news. Carly agrees to go if Mia wants her to. Melanie believes it would be a good idea for Carly to leave.
Back in Cleveland
E.J., Brady, Rafe, and Sami arrive at the Cleveland hospital, and a nurse informs them that Nicole is in a nearby room, but she's unconscious and can't have visitors. E.J. asks what happened to the baby, but the nurse reveals there wasn't a baby with Nicole. Brady returns with the doctor who was taking care of Nicole, relaying how she had a head injury and she was unconscious when she was brought in. E.J. asks if Nicole's awake. The doctor doesn't think Nicole can answer any questions, and affirms that only family is allowed.
Meanwhile, Arianna calls Brady and needs to talk to him. Brady reveals that he's in Cleveland, and Nicole is there. E.J. goes into Nicole's room and demands for her to wake up. She awakens and asks where Sydney is. E.J. wonders what she means, since she's supposed to be telling him where Sydney is. She begins to cry for Sydney, and E.J. demands to know where his daughter is.
Outside Nicole's room, Rafe introduces Sami to Mr. And Mrs. Robinson, who saw Nicole with Sydney at the bus station. Mrs. Robinson confirms that Nicole's baby was in a stroller, and Nicole was staring at them with their baby. Rafe surmises that somebody took Sydney when Nicole used the payphone. Sami recalls hearing Sydney crying in the background and thinks Nicole got hurt trying to protect Sydney.
