- 1). Locate the idler pulley for the smaller belt. The idler pulley is in-between the pulleys for the alternator and the AC compressor.
- 2). Loosen the nut that locks the idler pulley in place, using a socket and ratchet.
- 3). Pull up on the idler pulley to loosen tension on the drive belt.
- 4). Pull the drive belt off the three pulleys, and place the new belt onto the three pulleys.
- 5). Push down on the idler pulley, and lock it into place, by tightening the nut in the center of the pulley.
- 1). Locate the idler pulley on the bottom of the engine. The idler pulley acts as a tensioner, by putting tension on the belt as it wears and loosens.
- 2). Place the 3/8-inch ratchet driver from your socket set into the square hole on the idler pulley, and lift up on the handle.
- 3). Slide the belt off the idler pulley, and remove the belt from the other pulleys.
- 4). Place the belt onto the pulleys other than the idler pulley.
- 5). Pull up on the ratchet handle, and slide the belt over the idler pulley.
