- 1). Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Turn off the water supply valves and disconnect the hoses from the machine using a pair of channel-lock pliers to loosen the fittings. Pull the Frigidaire washing machine away from the wall so that you can get behind it to work.
- 2). Remove the retaining screws from the back panel of the washing machine using a Phillips screwdriver. Be careful as you remove the cover since the edges may be sharp. Rotate the drive pulley on the washing machine tub and work the drive belt off. Unplug the wiring harness from the washing machine motor by squeezing the clip and pulling it off.
- 3). Unplug the ground wire from the motor by pulling it off. Remove the hex screws securing the motor to the bracket, using a socket and ratchet. Grab the motor with both hands to support it and slide it forward to get it out of the washing machine. Place the new motor in the machine and slide it into place.
- 4). Install the hex retaining screws to mount the motor to the bracket, using a socket and ratchet. Plug the wiring harness and ground wire into the new motor. Place one end of the belt on the new motor shaft, then work it onto the washer tub as you spin the drum to work it onto the pulley. Make sure the ribs on the belt are on the bottom against the shaft.
- 5). Place the cover on the back of the washing machine and reinstall the retaining screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Connect the water supply hoses to the Frigidaire washing machine and turn on the water valves. Plug the electrical cord into the outlet and push the machine into place against the wall. Turn the machine on briefly to test the new motor.
