  Many boys like race cars and anything that has to do with them. A fun way to indulge their interest is by decorating their bedroom with a race car theme. Using only accessories and linens, you can add this theme to just about any room. If you are handy with tools, you can take it a step further and build some custom race car inspired furniture.
  
  

Race Car Beds

• Race car beds are commercially available in toddler and twin sizes. Some of these beds are plastic, while others are wooden. If you choose not to purchase a race car bed, you can make your own. Woodworking plans are available online and range from easy to advanced. If you don't want to invest in a special bed, you can always push the bed up against the wall and paint the side of a race car on the wall.
  
  

Linens, Drapes and Pillows

• You can purchase linens, drapes and throw pillows with a printed race car theme or you can make them yourself. Central to the race car theme is the black and white checkered flag. Check your local fabric store for this pattern. Use this fabric to make sheets, pillowcases, drapes, throw pillows and other accessories. Combine these with plain primary colored linens or linens in colors that match your boy's favorite racing team. Another race car theme pattern to consider is the flame pattern.
  
  

Accessories

• Like the bed and the linens, race car accessories are available off the shelf. However, if you want to make your own, you can make your lamps out of wheels, steering wheels and checkered flags. The room can be decorated with real or painted checkered flags and flames. The walls can be painted with checkered flag patterns, flames and racetracks. Removable wall clings are available in racing car themes, as well.
