Athletes Foot Symptoms-Signs or Warnings?

You don't have to be an Athlete or an Olympian to get athlete's foot. Any one can get it.

How do you get it?
Athlete's foot is a contagious fungus and can be spread by contact with an infected person. A contaminated object or surface like towels, shoes, and floors can also spread the fungus.
Fungus likes to grow in damp and warm places. The types of fungus in athletes foot are similar to ringworm and jock itch.
Having a history of athlete's foot increases your chances of getting it again. Men are more susceptible as well as aging adults.
Warning: How to avoid athletes foot symptoms:

Keep feet dry. Air or towel dry sweaty or damp feet as soon as possible. Take an extra pair of clean dry socks to change out of damp ones.

Wear shower shoes. Take precautions by wearing wet shoes when using a locker room and public shower. Public places like gyms and swimming pools can harbor and spread fungal growth to anyone with exposed feet.

Keep shoes dry. Air out shoes and insoles. Use talcum powder to absorb moisture. Having good air ventilation in shoes will help your feet stay dry.

Signs: Do you have the signs or symptoms?

Scaly red rash: Usually it will begin between your toes.

Itching: The worst itching can occur when you take off your shoes.

Dry flaky skin: Dry, flaky skin can occur on the soles of the feet.

Odor: A bacterial infection may be present if there is a foul odor.

If left untreated, it can also turn into an infection. Toe web infection occurs usually between the two smallest toes. Moccasin-type infection progresses and can spread to the toenails.

Best ways to treat:
Start treatment at first sign of itching. It's best to treat at the onset of athletes foot symptoms instead of letting it get worse. Treating it at the beginning will make it easier and faster to heal. Continue to keep feet clean and dry. Prevent more fungal growth by drying out shoes and changing wet socks. Tea-tree oil is anti-fungal and has powerful healing properties. Tea-tree oil (the common name for Melaleuca ) will not only expel the signs and symptoms, but will prevent more fungal growth.
Athlete's foot can be painful, uncomfortable and annoying. Start treating it as soon as the first signs and symptoms appear.
