Some dogs love to get dressed up in costumes, some do not.
If this is the first time you are dressing up your dog have some treats on hand to reward your dog as you do this.
The first step is to make sure the costume properly fits.
Make sure your dog's collar is on, holding on to the collar can help as you are dressing your dog.
If your dog is squirmy you can put a leash on the collar and secure it to something firm.
This will help keep your dog in one area and you won't have to chase your dog around the house.
If you have a helper they can keep your dog's attention by holding a treat close to your dog's nose and feeding a little bit at a time.
Once you have the costume on, praise your dog and give her some treats.
Once you have the costume on make sure that your dog can still do his bodily functions.
You don't want your dog messing up the costume once you have it on.
Also make sure that you can put your dog's leash and collar on.
You may have to take your dog outside for a walk and you don't want to struggle with this when you have to get your dog outside.
Do all of the above a few days before Halloween night.
Everyone tends to gets excited on Halloween night making all of this much more difficult.
If your dog really does not like any of this, scrap the costume.
No need to stress your dog out on Halloween.
