Air Inflation Tools

    • Any inflation tool set will require a tire gauge.air pressure gauge image by Greg Pickens from Fotolia.com

There are a variety of tools available to assist with the inflation of various items. Most of these tools have some form of adapter set which allows for the inflation of sports equipment, flotation devices, and tires. Typically, the smaller devices such as foot and hand pumps cannot provide enough pressure to inflate car tires. On the other hand, the larger compressors on the market can produce too much pressure and may explode sports equipment.

    Carry Tanks

Air carry tanks range in volume from around five gallons up to about 15 gallons. These tanks can be filled with compressed air and easily carried. They are designed to be used when a heavy air compressor and tank are either too large, too heavy, or generally more powerful than needed for the job. These tanks are also less expensive than an air compressor with tank. A carry tank can be used to inflate tires, sports equipment, or air mattresses. It can also be used to operate air powered tools for a short time. Optionally, in order to increase the storage volume of the system, a carry tank can be attached to an air compressor, which already has a tank.

    Hose Attachments

    • In additon to air tools, there are inflator attachments for air hoses.people at work, air compressor image by Greg Pickens from Fotolia.com

There are many different hose attachments for use with air inflation tools. These attachments can connect to hoses on either carry tanks or air compressors with attached tanks. One such attachment is a simple blower which is used to clear dust and debris from a work site as well as inflate various balls and flotation devices which have open ports. There is another attachment needle, which can then be used with this simple blower to allow for the inflation of sports equipment like basketballs and footballs. Additionally, there are attachments which connect directly to the hose for inflating tires. Some of the tire inflater attachments also have pressure gauges included.

An inflater can be any of a number of devices, which amount to small compressors which are used to inflating a range of products. The simplest of these is a bicycle pump which is either foot or hand operated. They can be used to inflate tires, sports equipment, and various other balls and flotation devices. From there this category expands to include portable compressors, which are either powered by built in batteries, wall plugs or automotive cigarette lighters. These are often the most common inflation tools found in residential use.
