It would appear the Shiite country of Iran will be the big winner in the Sunni countries of Jordan, Tunisia, Egypt, and even Lebanon.
The popular uprisings in Amman Jordan, Tunis, (supported by Iran) and now the staunch dictator of Egypt Hosi Mubarak is even talking about resigning in September before there national elections because of terse demonstrations that has hit hard on Cairo and surrounding cities.
Iran A Danger to World Stability If you may recall Iran won a major triumph in Lebanon last month when the government of Prime Minister Raad Hariri, who just happens to be a Sunni friendly to the West, crumbled in defeat to the Iranian backed Hezbollah candidate.
Do you notice a pattern here? Hezbollah Backed By Iran Israel, Great Britain, as well as the United States regard Hezbollah as a terrorist group whose leaders have been caught and tried for various nefarious ill deeds in Israel like launching rockets into Israeli populated areas.
It is like having a Iranian proxy state on Israel's northern border.
Hezbollah also has been introduced to longer ranged missiles that can penetrate deeper into Israel with more sophisticated guidance systems that will now pose a threat on a daily basis if hostilities break out.
More Defense Funds Now Needed for Israel Because Mubarak had been a friend to Israel over the past 30 years Israel's military did not have to put as much money into the national defense budget to protect the southern border.
Now with alarming events happening on a daily basis in Cairo it would appear that strategy will have to be revamped and the defense budget will now have to be increased.
The Mossad, Israel's CIA, believed that Mubarak was not under any pressure from the Muslim Brotherhood (Al Qaeda backed) and was not committed enough to pose any threat to Mubarak's regime.
Turmoil Caused by Iran That all this robust turmoil is being influenced by Iran and its minions is all to clear to see.
If Iran can crumble Western backed governments without firing a shot it's sinister plan to destroy Israel and drive her into the sea can indeed be sped up.
United States the Weak Sister The Obama administration looks like the weak sister in all this chaos that has enveloped Egypt because they withdrew support for Mubarak and have now asked him to step down as soon as possible.
Whether that happens right away is only future speculation, what must be decided now is where is the Middle East is headed and how can the United States can stave off another Middle East war and higher oil prices.
